Opening an Account

How do I open an account?

You can open a new account online at any time starting July 12th, 2022.

Who is eligible for a personal account?

To open an account, you must be at least 18 years of age, have a social security number and a valid state-issued ID.

Why do you need my social security number?

Your social security number is needed to verify your identity.

Why were there two deposits and a withdrawal to my linked bank account?

You will see two small deposits and a withdrawal being made in your linked bank account within 2 business days of linking your account with Thread. This helps us verify your ownership of the account before we allow deposits or transfers.

Is my money safe?

Thread Bank accounts are FDIC insured to the legal maximum of $250,000 for each ownership category.

How do I find my account number and routing number?

You can access your account number in your online banking or mobile banking account, and at the bottom of all your checks. If you have trouble locating your bank account number, you can contact your local banker at 423-272-2200.

What is the Thread Bank Deposit Sweep Program?

IND Sweep Program for Unit Fintech Partnerships
Through the IND Thread Deposit Sweep Program, available deposits will be “swept” (moved) into deposit accounts at one or more of our Program Banks. Cash deposits made to Program Banks are covered by Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (“FDIC”) Insurance up to a minimum of $2,500,000 inclusive of deposits you may already hold at the bank in the same ownership capacity. Note: Thread Bank is not responsible for monitoring the amount of deposits in any Program Bank. For more information about the program see the Thread Sweep Disclosure

ICS Sweep Program for Direct Thread Bank Customers
Through the ICS Thread Deposit Sweep Program, available deposits will be “swept” (moved) into deposit accounts at one or more of our Program Banks. Cash deposits made to Program Banks are covered by Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (“FDIC”) Insurance up to a total of $150,000,000 inclusive of deposits you may already hold at the bank in the same ownership capacity. Note: Thread Bank is not responsible for monitoring the amount of deposits in any Program Bank. For more information about the program see the Thread Sweep Disclosure.

Can I opt out of a Program Bank?

Yes. If an end user does opt out of one or more Program Banks, FDIC insurance may be reduced or forfeited. To opt out please contact us at customerservice@thread.bank.

How do I fund my account? How do I make a deposit?

There are two ways to fund your account:

  1. From your account dashboard, go to Pay & Transfer. Select Transfer Money to deposit money into your account.
  2. Download the mobile app to Deposit a Check via mobile deposit. Please be aware that in some scenarios, it may take 2-5 business days for funds being transferred from external accounts to arrive in your account.

How do I make a withdrawal?

There are three ways to withdraw money from your account. You can transfer money to an established bank account. Our VISA® Debit/Check Card gives you access to ATM locations nationwide. ATM machines are also available at each of our branch locations to serve customers 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.

How do I order checks?

Thread Bank partners with a third-party check provider to make ordering checks for your manual check writing needs easy and convenient. Checks are customizable, with many designs to choose from for both your personal and business needs. When placing an order, you will need to provide the Thread Bank routing number and your account number.

How do I enroll in online banking?

You will be guided through the enrollment process when you open a new Thread Bank account.

Where do I download the app?

The app is available for both iOS and Android. Click on the links below to install the app today.

Cards

Where can I use my Debit/ ATM card?

Our VISA® Debit/Check Card gives you access to ATM locations nationwide and you can make purchases online and instore at merchants that accept VISA worldwide. ATM machines are also available at each of our branch locations to serve customers 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.

What do I do if my Civis Bank card is lost or stolen?

To report LOST or STOLEN cards call: 423-921-9900 during business hours or call 800-554-8969 anytime. A representative will assist you with blocking your card and preventing further charges from being applied to your account.

Civis Bank

Will my CIVIS account number still work?

Your existing Civis account number did not change and is still valid.

Will my CIVIS routing number still work?

For For legacy Civis Bank customers your bank routing number is 064202967. The Civis Bank routing number will still be active and there will be no impact to direct deposits, bill pay, or recurring payments on your account.

Will my Civis Bank debit card still work?

Yes. Your existing Civis debit card will continue to work and you will not be reissued a new card.

Can I continue to use my checks?

Yes. You can continue to use your current supply of checks.

How will I access online banking?

You will be able to access online banking on the new Thread website, using your Civis login name and password. Your current account and online banking experience will remain unchanged.

Will I still be able to use the mobile banking app?

Yes. With your Civis account number, login name and password, you can review your balances, your current and past statements, and transfer money between accounts.

Will there be any changes to my loan?

No. Your loan terms and conditions will remain the same.

Will there be changes to how my loan payments are processed?

If you currently have automatic payments established, there will be no changes to your loan payment processing schedule. If you make mail payments by check, you will now need to make payments out to Thread Bank, instead of Civis Bank.

Who should I contact if I have questions about my loan?

What about my direct deposit or automatic payments?

All direct deposits and automatic payments linked to your current Civis Bank account and bank routing number are unaffected and remain in place. No action is required.
